FORT SMITH, ARK -- A phone call to Fort Smith's Mayor Ray Baker brought the long-hoped-for news that Fort Smith has been selected by the U.S. Marshals Service as the site for its U.S. Marshals Service Museum.

A jubilant steering committee, gathered at Fort Smith's city hall offices, spread the word by phone calls late Thursday afternoon. A press conference is set for 1 p.m. Friday at the North Rotunda of the Fort Smith Convention Center.

A full account of the site selection story and "Bring it Home" campaign effort will appear in the February issue of Entertainment Fort Smith, on the stands Feb. 1.
